Elon Musk admits he’s not too happy to be the boss of the now -shining electric car company, Tesla. What's wrong?
"I don't want to be the boss of anything. I kind of hate it and prefer to spend my time on design and engineering," he was quoted as saying by the BBC on Wednesday (14/7/2021).
Elon, who also heads the spacecraft company SpaceX, discussed the matter in his testimony in Delaware district court. He faces a lawsuit filed by Tesla shareholders over the failure of the acquisition.
Basically, Tesla shareholders felt pressured to buy solar panel company SolarCity a few years ago for $ 2.6 billion, a huge amount. SolarCity was founded by Elon’s nephew and then his business didn’t go smoothly, even running out of money until the shareholders felt disadvantaged by the purchase of this company.
Elon defended himself that he never forced the purchase and considered it necessary because it was part of Tesla’s grand plans to build low -cost electric vehicles in the future.
Shareholders demanded Musk return the $ 2.6 billion purchase money in full. In fact, even if he loses the case this time around, Elon Musk won’t have a hard time paying for it because he is currently the third richest person in the world with an estimated wealth of USD 168 billion according to Forbes estimates.
In subsequent discussions, Musk also attacked lawyers representing the shareholders. "I think you are a man in a hurry. I have great respect for the court, but not with you, sir," he said.
