The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was recently suspected of being the source of the COVID-19 Corona virus, with theories leaked from there or invented. Lab officials finally spoke out loudly to protest.
Countries like the United States and Australia would like to ask for such a theory to be investigated, although the consensus of most scientists is that the Corona virus originated in bats. Similarly, the WHO recently said the leak theory from the Wuhan laboratory could not be ruled out.
A recent Wall Street Journal report also noted that there is information that three researchers at WIV are seriously ill by the end of 2019 or ahead of the Corona virus outbreak.
Responding to the report, Yuan Zhiming, director of the National Biosafety Laboratory and professor of WIV, denied it. Since operating in 2018, there have been no leaks or infections in humans originating from there.
“I would like to emphasize that WIV never planned, created or leaked the Corona virus,” he said
Prior to December 2019, it did not save let alone create the Corona virus. On the news that some of its officers were ill at the end of 2019, his party had asked for the names of those concerned, but did not get them. To his knowledge, no one was ill at the time
On the other hand, Liang Wannian as part of the WHO-China team investigating the origins of the Corona virus also stated that the theory has very little bias.
“If some countries believe that research in this district should be done, then they should be done in laboratories that have not been examined,” he said
"In the next step, I think animal tracking should be a priority. This is the most valuable of our efforts." So far, no intermediate animals are known to be suspected of transmitting the Corona virus from bats to humans.
