Xiaomi has sent the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update to a number of its devices in China in mid-August. The good news is that currently the company made by Lei Jun has started rolling out the operating system update to global users.
When introduced, Xiaomi promised MIUI 12.5 to bring improved performance from before. In addition, this operating system update is also equipped with a number of new features.

- Liquid Storage
A new storage mechanism that will keep the device system alive and responsive over time. Disk defragmentation efficiency has been significantly improved by 60%.
Even after months of use, the performance remains strong. This is evidenced by laboratory simulation tests on the Mi 11 Pro which show that read and write capabilities have decreased by less than 5% after 36 months of use.
- Improved Memory
This feature focuses on very smooth memory management, so that the use of RAM becomes more efficient. By separating app memory and closing non-essential tasks, Xiaomi's self-developed memory management mechanism simplifies memory usage.
Take the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition as an example, the back-end residency capacity increased by 64%.
- Focused algorithm
Xiaomi's new algorithm will dynamically allocate system resources based on usage scenarios, ensuring a smooth experience on the user's device.
Core scenarios are accelerated smoothly and fully, prioritizing processes that are most clearly perceived by the current user according to the scenario, and minimizing the impact of certain apps in the background. CPU usage is reduced while power saving is increased.
Tests showed an average 15% reduction in CPU usage and an average 8% power savings.
- Smart balance
This feature ensures the top hardware runs well. It also ensures that irrelevant programs don't get in the way of its performance. In addition, on the Xiaomi Mi 11 test, the average power consumption dropped by 10%.
- Other Features
Default applications can now be uninstalled such as Mi Calculator, Notes App, Weather, Compass, Scanner, Mi Recorder.
