Pixel 6 Using Tensor, what happened to Qualcomm?

Shortly after Google announced the use of the Tensor on -chip (SoC) system in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Qualcomm’s stock immediately plummeted.
It’s reasonable, because so far the Pixel phone line has always used Snapdragon SoCs, and even most of the Nexus line - Pixel’s predecessor - also uses SoCs from Qualcomm.

But Qualcomm immediately talked about using Tensor. That is, they will continue to work with Google for existing and future products.

"Qualcomm will continue to work with Google on current and future products based on the Snapdragon platform," Qualcomm wrote in a statement.

Moreover, not all Google-made phones will also use the Tensor SoC. Google is reportedly going to release the Pixel 5a in the near future, and it seems that since the ‘a’ series is a mid -range handset, it’s unlikely the phone will use the Tensor.

The Pixel 5a will likely use the Snapdragon 7 series, which is intended for remote devices. So maybe this is what Qualcomm meant when they were still working with Google.

The presence of the Tensor SoC should no longer come as a surprise to Qualcomm, given that Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that they need four years to develop Tensor.

"AI is the future of our innovation, but the problem is that we are stuck with computing limitations that prevent us from continuing our mission. So we decided to build a technology platform on mobile devices that will allow us to bring the most innovative AI capabilities and machine learning to Pixel users., "Pichai wrote.
