After Disappointed Fans, Upgrade Horizon Forbidden West PS4 to PS5 for Free

Sony has finally freed up the Horizon Forbidden West upgrade, from PS4 to PS5. This happened, after many of their fans were disappointed.

It was previously reported that fans who had purchased the game on PS4, had to buy the latest Horizon series again, if they wanted to play it on PS5. This decision took fans by surprise and caused a lot of criticism.

Through a post on the PlayStation Blog, Jim Ryan, President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment also revealed that players who purchased Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4, could upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

"I would also like to confirm that going forward, PlayStation 4 and 5 exclusive cross-generational titles, both digital and physical, will offer a $10 digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5," Ryan wrote.

So this free upgrade, only applies to the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel. While other PlayStation exclusive games, such as God of War and Gran Turismo 7, have to spend some money, if you want to make adjustments from PS4 to PS5.

Even so, the news that there will be no additional costs for the Horizon upgrade, is a breath of fresh air for fans. This is considering, the price offered for the PS4 version itself, reaches USD 60.

While the PS5 version is more expensive, which is USD 70. So it doesn't make sense, if gamers have to buy a new one at that price.

In fact, this isn't the first time Sony has made a comeback, after much backlash from fans. Like before, when they finally stopped closing the digital storefront on PS3 and PS Vita. That, too, was due to a similar response from PlayStation consumers.

A little information, Horizon Forbidden West itself is ready to visit PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022. However, gamers can already pre-order now, where it is available worldwide.
