Camera iPhone 13 Pro Loses to Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Huawei P50 Pro

Apple so lauds the superiority of the iPhone 13 Pro camera because it brings improvements from before. Unfortunately the results of the test shots are still inferior to the Huawei P50 Pro and even the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

The testers are DxOMark, they often test the capabilities of DSLR cameras and smartphones. As a result, the iPhone 13 Pro scored a total of 137 points, only 9 points higher than the iPhone 12 Pro.

In detail, DxOMark gave the iPhone 13 Pro a score of 144 points in shooting photos, 76 points in zooming, and 119 points in video recording. When the overall results are ranked, the iPhone 13 Pro is in fourth place. The leading position is still held by the Huawei P50 Pro (144 points), the two Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (143 points) and the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ (139 points) in third.

Even though it only ranks fourth in the ranking, the iPhone 13 Pro is still one of the best camera smartphones currently in the DxOMark database. A score of 144 points for photography skills is already very good.

Like all other iPhones, DxOMark rates the images taken by the iPhone 13 Pro's camera as true to color, slightly warmer, and of very stable quality. Overall photo performance is comparable to the iPhone 12 Pro but with improvements in some ways.

The colors and contrast of backlit portraits have been improved, and images show a greater level of detail, especially when shooting indoors. It appears that Apple's camera engineers have taken advantage of the larger sensor on the iPhone 13 Pro to improve detail retention.

However, like the iPhone 12 Pro, there is still some noise in most shooting situations. While the camera zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro isn't the best, the score is still better than its predecessor. Thanks to a 3x optical zoom lens, compared to the previous generation 2x.

As for the video recording score, the iPhone 13 Pro excels at 119 points, bringing this smartphone to the top of the DxOMark video recording capability chart. The tone mapping instability on the iPhone 12 has been fixed, and the exposure is now rated very stable. Auto focus performance is now better, thanks to sensitive tracking that works at the right time and very smooth refocusing.

DxOMark also tested the iPhone 13 mini. This phone scored a total score of 130 points. When detailed 138 points for photography, 55 points for zoom, and 117 points for video recording.
