Facebook boss predicts all glasses will have cameras

Glasses at this time function to help vision or it could be as part of the style. But in the future, it is predicted that glasses will have more capabilities, namely as a recording device that is commonly used by people.

The prediction was made by Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's Vice President of Augmented and Virtual Reality. The function to take photos according to him will become a standard feature of glasses in the next decade. In other words, all glasses have cameras.

Facebook itself in collaboration with Luxoticca has just launched the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. This device can capture photos and videos using a small camera, with the press of a button or just a voice command.

"I think in 10 years people will say why can't your glasses take photos? That's weird." said Boswrth.

Although there are not so many enthusiasts, smart glasses have developed quite rapidly. Google was the first bear company to introduce it under the name Google Glass in 2012.

Google Glass looks like futuristic glasses and apart from recording images, it has virtual reality (VR) capabilities. The product eventually did not develop and was turned off, but had reaped admiration when it was introduced for the first time.

After Google and before Facebook, social media company Snap launched Spectacles glasses in 2016, which have two cameras. Spectacles are in high demand even though they are not widely marketed. The latest version is for selected content creators only.

Ray-Ban Stories from Facebook doesn't have VR capabilities yet, but it might be embedded in products in the future. With the increasing number of players, it is possible that smart glasses will be increasingly in demand by the public.
