A 16-year-old teenager from Mumbai, India ran away from home after spending 1 million rupees to buy virtual currency in the game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). He spent a large amount of money without the knowledge of his parents.
Quoted from IGN, Wednesday (1/9/2021) the hundreds of millions of money was withdrawn from the bank account belonging to his parents without their knowledge. The teenage boy initially told his parents that he wanted to spend money playing online games.
After being caught spending Rp. 195 million just for PUBG, the teenager was immediately punished by his parents. Not long after, the teenager ran away from home and left a note saying he would not be coming home.
On August 25, the teenager's parents immediately registered a missing persons report with the local police. The police immediately launched a massive search.
The day after, the police found the teenager thanks to information from a friend and footage from CCTV. The teenager was found in a location quite far from his home.
To the police, the teenager's parents said their son was so addicted to PUBG that he didn't think twice about spending large sums of money. The parents and the teenager were then advised by the police.
Unlike the mobile version, the console and PC versions of PUBG are not blocked in India. But now PUBG Mobile has made a comeback with a new name, Battlegrounds Mobile India.
