Research Finds Apple Watch Can Detect Heart Arrhythmias

The Apple Watch has come a long way since the first model was launched. Over the years Apple has continued to improve the capabilities of its smartwatches and also add new health sensors.

Now the Apple Watch has been upgraded to the point where it could potentially be used to detect certain types of heart arrhythmias.

According to the Apple-Stanford Medicine Heart Study, Apple found that using the ECG monitor inside the Apple Watch Series 4, it was able to detect more types of arrhythmias than originally thought.

Cardiac arrhythmias are disorders that occur in the rhythm of the heart. People with arrhythmias may feel their heart rhythm is too fast, too slow, or irregular.

Actually normal arrhythmia occurs in a healthy heart condition. However, if it occurs continuously or repeatedly, an arrhythmia can indicate a problem with the heart organ.

Sometimes patients also can't feel it and may experience other symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, or fatigue.

While the Apple Watch is not intended to be used as a diagnostic tool, warning users early about potential heart problems could save their lives because it means people may have an early checkup before it's too late.

Apple Watch itself has many stories that often warn users about heart problems and save many lives.
