Qualcomm is preparing a successor to the Snapdragon 888 chipset. This new generation chipset will likely bear the name Snapdragon 898 or Snapdragon 895, and the chipset score was recently revealed.
Qualcomm hasn't officially announced the Snapdragon 898 yet, but leaks about the chipset have been revealed several times. Leaker Abhishek Yadav revealed the presence of Snapdragon 898 on Geekbench with Vivo phones.
This Vivo cellphone with the code V2102A is a prototype that is not related to the current Vivo cellphone. Since this phone is still under development, maybe that's the reason why Snapdragon 898 scores low on Geekbench for a flagship chipset.
This Vivo device that was tested using the Snapdragon 898 also had a lower-than-expected CPU core. The phone is seen running eight cores namely Cortex-X2 Super Core 2.242 GHz, three Cortex-A710 Power 2.17 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 1.79 GHz.
It is likely that these numbers will increase once the Snapdragon 898 is mass produced. Because from previous leaks, the Cortex-X2 core used by Qualcomm's new chipset will have a speed of up to 3.09 GHz, higher than that used by the overclocked X1 core in Snapdragon 888, as quoted from GSMArena, Monday (6/9/2021) .
Snapdragon 898 itself will be the first chipset to use the ARMv9 architecture. This new design promises 16% faster performance and up to 30% better power efficiency than its predecessor.
This flagship chipset will also be equipped with a new generation Adreno 730 GPU and an X65 5G modem that can deliver speeds of up to 10 Gpbs. This chip is also likely to carry the latest ISP and NPU.
Snapdragon 898 will be manufactured using 4nm manufacturing by Samsung and TSMC. As in previous years, Qualcomm will announce its latest flagship chipset in December and the first phones using this chipset will be introduced a month later.
Usually the vendor that will use the latest chipset from Qualcomm for the first time is Xiaomi. So if you follow the rumors circulating, it is likely that the first phone to use Snapdragon 898 is the Xiaomi 12.
