Telegram founder says TikTok and Netflix aren't good for the brain

Telegram founder Pavel Durov in a recent post on his official Telegram channel alluded to brain performance. He also warns people not to get too hung up on videos on TikTok or Netflix. Why is that?

"The mind is our most powerful tool. There is nothing it can't do. According to many studies, the mind actively generates new ideas even when we are resting or doing nothing. Often we have solutions to difficult problems after a long night's sleep," he wrote. Russian-born man.

Durov, who now lives in Dubai, added that just as our physical appearance depends on what we eat, the human mental state also depends on the quality of information entered into the brain.

"If we nourish our brain with real-life data that allows it to solve fundamental problems, it will process this data in the background and come up with unexpected solutions," explains Pavel Durov.

He also regrets that currently many people are lulled by services such as TikTok or Netflix. "Unfortunately most people prefer to feed their minds not with real facts that could make us change the world but with random Netflix series videos or TikTok videos," he critiques.

"On a deeper level, our brains are so incapable of knowing fiction and reality, so the abundance of digital entertainment keeps our subconscious mind busy making solutions to problems that don't really exist," Durov continued.

He also advised people to minimize it. "To be creative and productive, we must first clear our minds of irrelevant content from the flood of algorithm recommendations every day. If we want to regain creative freedom, we must first regain control of our minds," concludes Pavel Durov.
