Twitter Users Worldwide Can Give and Receive Bitcoin Tips

After being introduced four months ago, Twitter is expanding the Tip Jar feature within its app. It is now available globally, and allows users to receive and send tips in bitcoin.

With the update, Twitter users around the world will have access to tips, which will allow users to send money to each other via apps like Venmo, Cash App, or Bandcamp, GoFundMe and PicPay.

Twitter users in the United States and El Salvador will have the additional option of sending and receiving tips with Bitcoin via Strike, which is built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network that allows users to send or receive cryptocurrency instantly and for free. While people in other countries will be able to receive tips through their Bitcoin addresses.

"A digital currency that encourages more people to participate in the economy and helps people send money to each other across borders and with as little friction as possible helps us get there," said Esther Crawford of Twitter.

Twitter ensures that it will not deduct tips that are exchanged between users. Tipping is rolling out to all Twitter iOS users starting today, and will be available on Android "in the coming weeks."

Twitter says it will "soon" support some kind of NFT authentication, allowing creators to connect their own crypto wallets to Twitter. This can allow them to track, showcase and authenticate their NFT on the platform with a custom badge.

Along with the announcement of Tip Jar, Twitter made improvements to Spaces. Users are allowed to record and change conversations.

The company, created by Jack Dorsey, claims to be working on ways to improve conversational search in Spaces. Additionally Ticketed Spaces will have more options for setting prices and audience sizes.

Twitter also claims to be testing "Community", which sounds similar to the Facebook Groups feature. This will allow users to connect with people with similar interests and the feature is being tested on the platform now.
