Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Camera Review: Has Top Class

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a high-end phone with high specs and full camera features. The first time you see this phone, you will immediately be impressed by the size of the phone which is quite large with a panel on the back of the camera that contains the camera module that sticks out.

The screen of this phone is fairly large, which is 6.8 inches, and weighs 236 grams. On the camera panel, there are several camera modules, including a 50 MP main camera with a 24mm wide lens, a 1/1.12″ f/2 sensor, dual pixel PDAF, and an optical stabilizer. A 12mm ultra-wide camera and a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens are also available, each having sensors with a pixel size of 0.8µm and apertures of f/2 and f/4.

The main camera has a 50 MP resolution sensor with a 24mm equivalent wide lens and a 1/1.12″ f/2 sensor, dual pixel PDAF, and an optical stabilizer. For the photos, the photos in bright sunlight look natural and very detailed.

Even in backlight conditions, this camera processor is able to balance the dark and light parts well. In rather dark conditions such as the interior, the image quality is still maintained with vibrant colors. Noise is also minimal although fine details are getting lost.

For portrait photos, with a sensor that is close to 1 inch and computational technology, the background can be blurred and looks quite good, separating the subject from the background clearly and neatly.

For dark light conditions such as at night, the image quality is still quite good, but if you zoom in it will look less detailed, noise starts to appear in very dark places but is quite controlled and doesn't interfere, especially for printing small photos or social media.

Ultrawide Lens

The ultra wide lens in this camera is very, very wide, which is equivalent to 12mm, making it practical to record a very wide scene even in a narrow place. For example, in the MRT train I can record a very large space, but it looks convex.

The camera quality is good for both light and dark places, and the color quality is still good. In many camera phones, the ultrawide module is much lower quality than the main camera, but not in this Xiaomi Ultra.

Telephoto

The telephoto lens on this phone camera is quite long, which is 120mm equivalent, which is quite good for distant subjects. If it's not long enough, you can digitally zoom up to 10x and even 100x.

For the results, the photos are as good as ultra wide lenses, but if we start zooming to 10x the quality of photo details will decrease and at 100x it can be for emergencies because the sharpness and detail are not that good.

When shooting with 100x zoom, it's also a bit difficult to be precise because the phone shifts a little bit, the composition will change quite a lot. Photos in dark conditions look over-sharpened.

Compared to other lens modules, this telephoto lens has a smaller aperture, namely f/4, so the quality of the lens in dark conditions is a bit difficult because the ISO will be higher so that the image becomes less detailed, or the shutter speed is slow so that moving subjects don't. sharp/blur.

Conclusion

In general, the quality of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra camera is indeed a high-end camera that can produce sharp results and bright colors, especially when using the main camera. For other camera modules, the image quality is also close, especially in bright light conditions. The three cameras have more or less the same color character, making it easier for photographers who like to create story photo series.

One thing that might be a bit burdensome as a photo tool is that it is relatively large and heavy compared to a regular phone, around 236 grams, and when this review was made, the price of the phone depends on its memory capacity.
