Acer Makes a Gaming Projector, This is the Featured Feature

Acer adds to the product portfolio in its Predator line with two gaming projectors, the GM712 and GD711. Both of these projectors have 4K resolution, what are the advantages?

GD711 seems to be the flagship series by Acer, has a brightness level of 1,450 ANSI lumens (or 4,000 LED lumens) and supports HDR10. As previously written, the GD711's resolution is up to 4K. But what's interesting about this projector is the variable refresh rate (VRR) support.

This means that the projector can adjust the refresh rate according to the input image from the source, such as PC and Xbox Series X. However, when VRR is enabled, the resolution is lowered to 1080p and supports refresh rates of 120Hz for consoles and 240Hz for PCs.

While the PS5, although it supports a 120Hz refresh rate at 1080p, so far it doesn't support VRR. So far there are no projectors on the market that support VRR, and only high-end TVs exist.

The image sizes supported by the GD711 vary, but Acer recommends a 100-inch size that can be obtained from a distance of about 8.85 feet or 2.6 meters. Acer buried the Aptoide TV app store inside the GD711, 2 HDMI 2.0, audio ports, and three USB-A.

This projector lamp is estimated to last 30 thousand hours in Eco mode and 20 thousand hours in standard mode.

Meanwhile, the GM712 both have 4K resolution, but with a much higher brightness level. Namely 3600 ANSI lumens but at a more affordable price.

It is slightly heavier in weight, and the lamp life is shorter. That is 5000 hours in standard mode and 10 thousand hours in ExtremeEco mode. Meanwhile, the features are relatively the same, namely VRR, HDR10, and 240Hz refresh rate support for PCs.

Acer plans to sell the GD711 and GM712 in November in China at a price of 12,000 yuan and 11,000 yuan respectively.
