These are the three sources of Samsung's money coffers

In 2020, Samsung once recorded the highest revenue record in Q3 2020. Now they have broken the record again with revenues reaching USD 63 billion.

Its revenue is up 10% compared to Q3 2020, while its profit is up 26% compared to the same period last year, which reached USD 13 billion. Samsung's main sources of revenue in Q3 2021 are chips, OLEDs, and foldable screen phones.

The shortage of chips that occurred during this pandemic made various chips made by Samsung, both memory and processors, experience an increase in demand. Whether it's chips for servers to mobile phones.

Moreover, as more and more companies are implementing hybrid workplaces, the demand for SSDs, processors, and RAM for servers has increased significantly.

As the world's largest chipmaker, skyrocketing memory chip prices mean Samsung will be making big profits too. But on the other hand, these higher costs also cut profits for its consumer products division.

Sales for Samsung's memory division increased 46% over the same period last year. Meanwhile profits from the semiconductor division nearly doubled, rising from 5.54 trillion won to 10.06 trillion won, or about $8.5 billion.

In addition to chips, Samsung also claims that the demand for folding screen phones such as the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 is quite strong. Likewise with middle and lower class phones.

Then there is the iPhone 13 which is a source of income for Samsung. Well, why the iPhone? Because the display panel-making division also saw an increase in revenue, which Samsung says is due to the huge demand for newly released phones, and the biggest consumer of Samsung's OLED panels is Apple.

For the upcoming Q4 2021, Samsung also believes there will be big income from this division. Not because of new phones, but because of the huge demand for OLED panels in larger devices, such as laptops, tablets, and consoles like the Nintendo Switch OLED -- which use Samsung's OLED panels.
