TikTok Users Can Mute Other Users While Live Streaming

TikTok announced it will launch a new feature that allows TikTok streamers to disable certain audiences during streaming.

When someone broadcasts live on social media, there are many possibilities for malicious, racist and even harassing comments directed at them (streamers).

Even live broadcasts on the Twitch platform have moderators to help streamers remove malicious comment types and prevent comments from appearing while streaming.

This is apparently what TikTok will have, they announced they will launch a new feature that allows TikTok streamers and helps them to disable certain audiences during streaming.

This mute feature will allow the streamer to mute the audience for a few minutes or for the duration of the stream if they find the audience too difficult to set and distracting.

"Now, hosts or people they trust can temporarily disable viewers who are considered annoying for a few seconds or minutes, or during the streaming. If the account is muted for some time the entire comment history of that person will also be deleted," TikTok said.

As TikTok notes, hosts can already disable comments and filter out potentially harmful comments.

However the addition of this feature adds more detailed control so that instead of disabling comments completely, the streamer has the option to disable only certain members of the audience.
