A 5th grade elementary school student in Nghe An Province, Vietnam has reportedly died when his cell phone exploded during an online class.
It is said that initially this 11-year-old boy was charging his phone during an online class but the phone battery heated up and then exploded.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his parents but due to the severe burns he suffered he was critical and died during treatment.
According to a report from VNExpress when the cell phone exploded this unnamed boy was using earphones. An official from the Nam Den District Education Department said the incident occurred around 4 p.m. local time on October 14.
After the pandemic subsided, schools began to reopen last month but still gradually. So the online school system is still in effect. The police also said to ask their students to attend online classes once a week.
The pandemic forced almost everyone to switch to digital devices be it the world of business or education, everything has shifted to this new space. School students also take classes on their phones, tablets and more.
However, the risk of using electronic devices for long hours has increased the risk for students and even affected their mental health. As per recent media reports an 18 year old student in India was electrocuted while his phone was charging.
Similar incidents were also recently reported from several countries which increased the fear among parents as students were forced to attend online classes using mobile phones.
