A few months ago, Twitter was reportedly testing a new downvote button in the comments, a button similar to that on Reddit. This test is limited to users on iOS devices.
Well, recently social media researcher Jane Manchung Wong via her Twitter account revealed that Twitter is currently testing the downvote button for the web version.
"Twitter is working to bring the Downvote button to the web after testing it out on iOS," wrote Jane Manchun Wong on Twitter.

Twitter says its use of the downvote button is to let them know what kind of comment or reply they don't like.
According to Twitter's test announcement at the time, it was explained that this button would only show how the user responded to a comment. This downvote feature will not be shown by Twitter users in general. Only the owner of the post and Twitter can see it.
This means that the downvote button will not affect the order of comments and replies from fellow users. Unlike the Reddit forum platform where comments on posts that have a large number of downvotes will be hidden.
However, on Twitter with this feature, we only want to show how the user responds to a comment. This downvote feature will not be shown by Twitter users in general. Only the owner of the post and Twitter can see it.
