Mobile analytics company App Annie predicts TikTok's active users by 2022 will reach 1.5 billion.
The achievement of active TikTok users is very fast, even faster than WhatsApp which takes two years longer than TikTok.
"TikTok is growing very fast compared to its social media competitors in 2021, even after being blocked in India in June 2020 -- which was previously their biggest growth market," analyst App Annie said in the report.
"TikTok's growth globally could put it far ahead of video streaming providers and attract a significant number of advertisers due to its wide coverage and deep user engagement," he added.
In the report, App Annie also predicts that TikTok will surpass 3 billion downloads and also generate $3 billion in revenue globally on iOS and Google Play Store.
Besides TikTok, there is also Pinterest and Temple Run 2 which will break the billion download mark. They applaud Pinterest's growth in developing countries such as Brazil and several other countries in South America.
Previously, there were only Subway Surfers and Candy Crush Saga, which had more than 1 billion downloads. If Temple Run 2 manages to break that number, it will be the 3rd game with 1 billion downloads.
Subway Surfers itself is currently going to penetrate 2 billion downloads in the near future, and App Annie calls it the most popular mobile game in the world.
They also see the growing trend of 'play to earn' games, where players can monetize their activities in the game, which will be an evolution in the gaming industry. The growth of this new model occurs because of the NFT game.
