Apple Wants To Make Drones?

The United States Patent & Trademark Office has published two patent applications filed by Apple. Interestingly, in the patent filing there are indications that Apple will develop drones in the near future.

These two new filings add to three previous patents relating to possible Apple drone or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) devices.

The first application covers the application and the method of interaction between the UAV and the controller. Thus this first patent will address the installation or connection and disconnection of a UAV from a controller. It will cover equipment, systems, and methods for attaching a drone to a remote wireless controller.

Then the second patent filing relates to the tracking and control of unmanned aerial vehicles. It has patent application number 20210349458. The second patent concerns how UAVs can be controlled and monitored via mobile network systems.

This confidential check also shows that the same track/control patent has been filed by Apple in Singapore under number 10202002204W. It is not clear if there were any modifications between the Singapore filing and the US one.

There are no further clues or leaks showing evidence of Apple's level of UAV development. If it is true that Apple develops drones, there is no guarantee that Apple will actually release them or not commercially.
