Bill Gates' 'mistake' so that he fell as the richest man

Bill Gates is no longer the richest person in the world in recent years. If Gates had not sold his stake in Microsoft, he could have easily returned to the top of the list of the richest people in the world.

As is known, Gates is currently the fourth richest person in the world according to Forbes with a total wealth of USD 138.5 billion. His position is behind Bernard Arnault (USD 195.3 billion), Jeff Bezos (USD 201.5 billion), and Elon Musk.

According to Bloomberg analysis, in September 1998 Gates owned 2.06 billion shares of Microsoft when the software company became the world's most valuable company for the first time.

But in 2020, Gates sold most of his stake when he left his post on Microsoft's board of directors. Since then, this 66-year-old man has chosen to focus on his charitable activities.

Not long ago, on October 29, Microsoft once again became the most valuable company in the world and took over the position previously held by Apple. Microsoft 's current capitalization reaches USD 2.49 trillion .

If Gates currently still owns the stock, its current value could reach USD 693 billion. This means that Gates' wealth could exceed the total wealth of Musk and Bezos combined, as quoted from News.com.au, Tuesday (9/11/2021).

With this amount of wealth, Gates can certainly overtake Musk as the richest person in the world by quite a distance. But of course this is just an analysis.

Meanwhile, Musk is predicted to become the world's first billionaire. The trillions here are of course in terms of United States dollars or translucent USD 1,000 billion.

At this time, much of Elon's wealth has been contributed by the Tesla electric car company he leads. But in the future, his other company, SpaceX, may provide more money as the space business booms.
