Facebook Marketplace Sellers Will Be Charged 2%

Starting January 2022, the Facebook marketplace will start to charge a 2% fee for items that sellers send directly to buyers via its platform.

The fee will go to sellers in the UK who use Marketplace on Facebook. This commission fee applies if the seller chooses to post the item to the consumer through the platform.

Facebook says their service gives shoppers more choice, while allowing sellers to reach more people because they won't be limited by their geographic location.

The 2% fee will be based on the total cost of the goods, as determined by the seller, plus shipping costs. Facebook said the fees would help cover the costs of customer support and purchase protection. Merchants can still avoid this fee on sign-in by continuing to use Faceook's collections only option.

Last month, the company revealed that its annual revenue grew in 2020 by 35% to USD 29.01 billion thanks to the explosion of online advertising.
