Get USD 300 million, Pokemon Go Maker Creates Real World Metaverse

 


Niantic, the developer for Pokemon GO and Pikmin Bloom, recently announced that it has received a substantial funding injection from Coatue. The figure reaches USD 300 million .

It is known that they will use the funds, to invest in new games and apps at this time. Also included in building his vision, creating a Real-World Metaverse.


"Niantic is developing an Augmented Reality (AR) platform, with reference to real world maps in 3D. We believe it will play an important role in the next computing transition," said Matt Mazzeo, General partner of Coatue.




Mazzeo also expressed his pleasure. Because by partnering, they can see this infrastructure supporting the Metaverse for the real world. In addition, it is considered to be able to support the evolution of the internet in the future.


With the funds disbursed by Coatue, the value of the company built by John Hanke increases. If you look back at the beginning of 2019, the figure almost touched USD 4 billion. But now the number is increasing rapidly, up to USD 9 billion.

Earlier this month, Niantic launched the Lightship AR Developer Kit (ARDK). Enabling developers around the world, realizing the vision for AR and the Real-World Metaverse.


According to them, ARDK is the initial foundation for the creation of Niantic products, such as Ingress, Pokemon GO, to the recently released Pikmin Bloom. It is a cross-platform software, which can run seamlessly on Android and iOS devices.
