Meta Facebook Plagiarize Malaysian Company Name and Logo?

Facebook has just announced the change of its company name to Meta accompanied by a logo. Apparently, the name Meta and the logo were already used by companies from Malaysia.

The metagroup from the neighboring country has existed since three years ago. Anthony Cheng as the owner of the company showed off the similarity of his name and logo.

Facebook's Meta-style infinity symbol with this Malaysian company's Metagroup is very identical.

The difference is, the shape of infinity displayed by Meta Facebook tends to be shaped like the letter M. In addition, the type of font is also different.

Quoted from Mothership, Monday (11/8/2021) the logo for Infinity Metagroup from Malaysia was taken from the Yin and Yang concept. Meanwhile, color shades represent the five elements and complement each other.

Cheng also explained that his Meta refers to the origin of the universe, life, and the driving force behind good business.

While Meta Facebook is a technology company, Meta, a Malaysian company, provides a series of services and geomancy classes, which is one of the sciences of forecasting based on observations of lines or drawings.

Cheng's Meta name and logo have also been registered as their trademark in Malaysia. That is, if there is a similar name or form in that country, it can be punished.

This isn't the first time Meta Facebook has stumbled upon a name issue. Previously, a PC company in Arizona, USA that sells computers, laptops, and software for gamers sued Facebook for USD 20 million.

Meta PC precedes Facebook and has registered its trademark in August although it has not been granted. Meta PC founders Joe Darger and Zack Shutt will give Facebook the Meta name, if Mark Zuckerberg's company pays them.
