Samsung Galaxy S22 Only Comes with Snapdragon Chip Options?

Leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S22 series keep popping up. Not long ago the form of the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a new camera design and an S Pen slot was revealed, but this time there are more horrendous rumors.

According to Dutch media LetsGoDigital, Samsung is rumored to be using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset for the Galaxy S22 series globally, and there will be no variant using the Exynos chipset. This means that the Galaxy S22 will likely only offer the Snapdragon 898 option worldwide, including Europe and Asia.

This news comes from a former Samsung employee who is now a tipster with the name Super Roader. This tipster has previously shared several leaks about the Galaxy S22 series, including the design differences between the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+.

If these rumors are true, then this will signal a big change for Samsung. Every year, Samsung always launches its flagship phones in two variants, namely those that use Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets.

This South Korean vendor usually prioritizes its own Exynos chipset in most markets, but relies on Snapdragon chipsets in certain countries such as the United States and China. For example, the Galaxy S21 series comes with the Snapdragon 888 chip in the US, Canada, China and Japan, but comes with the Exynos 2100 in other regions.

This drastic change is based on the global chip crisis that hit many industries. According to Super Roader information, the production of the Exynos 2200 chipset is quite difficult for Samsung and it looks like the stock of chips produced will not be enough ahead of the release of the Galaxy S22 series, as quoted from Phone Arena, Monday (11/8/2021).

There is currently no confirmation that confirms the Super Roader claim, but some tipsters such as Max Weinbach and Front Tron have denied these rumors. In a tweet on Twitter, Weinbach and Front Tron separately said they had received information that the Exynos version of the Galaxy S22 would also launch.

In addition to news about the choice of chipset for the Galaxy S22 series, Super Roader also revealed an announcement date which is February 8, 2022, and will be released globally on February 18. This rumor is in line with information revealed by tipster Jon Prosser who said that Samsung will hold a Galaxy Unpacked event in early February 2022.
