Samsung doesn't seem to be playing around in releasing its newest hero, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. A series of innovative and advanced features are embedded in this latest flagship folding phone, what are these features?
If you look back, actually the Galaxy Z line has become an innovative product with a design that not many other vendors have. Yes, the innovation is none other than a foldable design or a foldable screen.
But it's not Samsung if it doesn't develop the third generation of its Galaxy Fold. These series of innovations and features are certainly the mainstay of this folding phone to attract public interest. Then, what are these features?
On the screen, Samsung gives the latest touch by carrying the main screen Infinity Flex Display measuring 7.6 inches with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels. Not to mention the technology, the Under Display Camera, which makes the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G camera hide behind the screen.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is the first Samsung device to adopt the technology, and the world's first foldable smartphone to implement an under-display camera. With this screen, users can get a wider viewing area.
This screen also has a brightness level of 29% higher than the Galaxy Z Fold2, which uses Eco technology. The screen is also provided with Corning® Gorilla® Glass VictusTM for the strongest protection against scratches and unexpected drops.
Samsung has also equipped the device with a new stretchable PET5 protective film and an optimized main screen panel, creating a screen that is 80% more durable than its predecessor.
This device uses a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel with a refresh rate that is also up from the previous generation, which is 120 Hz. With a screen like this, multitasking activities will be easier and more comfortable.
Water Resistant & Body Resistance
Well, another innovation that Samsung has given to this foldable phone is the IPX8 certification given to a folding phone. With the same level of water resistance as the Galaxy S, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G will provide a sense of security for users when suddenly exposed to rain or other circumstances.
With the IPX8 certification, it means that the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G can be immersed in fresh water at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Not only that, Samsung keeps the gap between the body and the hinge as small as possible, and the electronic components are also given a rubber coating. While the hinges of the device are given an anti-rust coating to protect them from corrosion.
This phone is also made with the latest Armor Aluminum from Samsung, the strongest aluminum ever used for a smartphone. Not only that, the Z Fold3 has also gone through a rigorous folding test, verified by Bureau Veritas, so that it can withstand being folded for 200,000 times.
S Pen
This innovation is the latest introduced by Samsung. Yes, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is supported by the use of the S Pen which is usually found on the Galaxy Note line. With this feature, Z Fold3 can increase user productivity.
There are many things that users can rely on thanks to this S Pen, including writing notes while making video calls to checking to-do lists while reading emails.
Samsung has also added the presence of the S Pen to text feature that allows users to perfect writing just by doing simple movements when they have to take notes very quickly.
The S Pen for the Z Fold3 comes in two variants, namely the S Pen Fold Edition and the S Pen Pro. Both have been equipped with a softer Pro tip and force limit technology to protect the screen from excessive pressure and very low latency.
Camera
Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is equipped with five cameras placed in 3 different positions. On the front cover, there is a 10 camera and inside there is a 4 MP camera placed under the screen.
On the back there are three cameras with a 12 MP Wide camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 12 MP Tele camera that can take photos with 2x optical zoom.
The camera features are no less sophisticated, because thanks to the folding screen design, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G can be used to take photos in various modes. In addition, users can also take advantage of the Dual Preview feature to review filters, effects, and AR doodles used on the cover screen before editing them on the main screen.
There is also an auto framing feature that can detect four people in one frame and shoot them with the appropriate composition. This phone is also equipped with a Capture View Mode feature which, if activated when taking photos, will split the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G screen in two, displaying the viewfinder on the right side, and a photo preview on the left.
Battery & Performance
Regarding performance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset combined with 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM with 2 ROM options, namely 256 GB / 512 GB and the operating system already uses Android 11.
To further support the optimal performance of this immersive screen, Samsung has embedded a large 4,400 mAh battery with fast charging features of up to 25W. Samsung has also added stereo speakers that can produce clear sound when conducting meetings or video calls.
