Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro have been officially announced in China. These two flagship phones are equipped with the most capable and sophisticated camera specifications.
Starting from the Xiaomi 12 which is equipped with a 50 MP main camera. This main camera carries a Sony IMX766 sensor measuring 1/1.56 inches which is claimed to be larger than the 1/1.88 sensor used by the iPhone 13.
Turning to the Xiaomi 12 Pro, this phone certainly carries a higher and more sophisticated camera specification. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the first phone to carry the latest Sony IMX707 sensor.
The specifications of this sensor are 50 MP resolution with a size of 1/2.8. The pixel size itself is 1.22μm which supports 4-in-1 pixel binning so it can create 2.44μm pixels for better low-light photos.
This main camera is paired with a 50 MP ultrawide camera with a JN1 sensor and a 5 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
In addition to sophisticated hardware, Xiaomi also includes software to support the photography features offered. For example, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is equipped with the CyberFocus feature which has intelligent visual tracking capabilities that can identify the eyes and figures of humans and pets for stable and accurate focus.
Xiaomi also has a new system called 'Image Brain' embedded in the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro cameras which promises faster image processing and can take better photos of moving objects, as quoted from Gizmochina, Thursday (30/12/2021) .
Xiaomi also showed off a new night mode algorithm that can capture more light in dimly lit areas while keeping noise levels under control.
Outside of the camera sector, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and an OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The standard variant has a 6.28-inch screen while the Pro variant has a 6.73-inch screen with a brightness level of up to 1,500 nits.
The Xiaomi 12 battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh with 67W fast charging that can be fully charged in 39 minutes. While the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a 4,600 mAh battery with 120W fast charging which promises a full battery in 18 minutes.
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro will go on sale in China on December 31. Here are the prices for each variant:
