Google: Chrome OS is the Fastest Growing Operating System

Google showcased the growth of Chrome OS users during 2021, which is claimed to have increased by 92% compared to 2020.

According to Google, in May 2021, Chrome OS growth reached 92% compared to May 2020. This growth rate according to the search engine giant is five times faster than the average figure in the PC market.

That's what makes Google dare to claim that Chrome OS is the fastest growing operating system. In addition, Google also saw a significant increase in the use of Android applications on Chrome OS, which increased by 50% year over year.

As additional information, Google has also shared data in October 2019, where the amount of time Chrome OS users spent on Android applications at that time grew 4 times compared to the previous year.

"Users want the experience that their favorite apps offer on their phones on devices with bigger screens," Google wrote, as quoted by us from 9to5Google.

Chrome OS versions 93 and above now support Android 11, which according to Google automatically launches mobile apps for Android in a phone (vertical) or tablet (horizontal) orientation. Users can also choose to reset the application window size, or can 'lock' the window size so that it cannot be changed.

Meanwhile, Chrome OS 96 and above now also supports Nearby Share, both on Android 9 and 11. Google has also optimized Chrome OS for stylus use, which promises to have lower latency.

Google is currently also promoting the use of Android on devices with larger screens, which can be seen from the release of Android 12L, namely Android 12 whose interface is optimized for devices with large screens.

According to Google, there are currently more than 250 million Android devices with large screens active worldwide.
