Google continues to optimize the performance of its browser. As a result, Chrome version 95 is said to be able to save RAM and make the browser more responsive, work significantly faster.
In a post, Google gave a little picture of how capable Chrome version 95 is. The browser is claimed to be able to load about 25% faster than the previous version.
"Through testing, we found that almost 20% of Chrome windows are completely covered by another window, namely occlusion. If this occlusion window is treated as a background tab, according to our hypothesis, it will provide significant performance benefits," explains Google.
"So about three years ago we started developing a project to track the occlusion of each Chrome window in real time and reduce the priority of tabs in blocked windows. We call this project Native Window Occlusion."
Thanks to the introduction of a new occlusion feature, Google Chrome not only loads faster, but also reduces GPU memory usage by around 3.1%. Google also managed to increase latency by around 3%, while reducing the probability of browser crashes to 4.5%.
Google's attempt at Chrome comes at just the right time. Since Microsoft is doing such a good job with Edge and all the improvements that come with it, Google Chrome's improved performance will give users a reason to stick with this browser.
