Suspected Alien Base, Mysterious Voice Is Heard from the Lake

A frozen lake in Colorado, USA, makes a strange noise, similar to a sonic signal. Viral on social media, a number of netizens suspected the lake to be an alien base.

The footage was taken from Steamboat Springs in Colorado, and was recorded by a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service staffer on Dec. 2.

Quoted from the New York Post, he then posted it to Twitter, then someone shared it to UFO Sightings Daily. Speculation arose, and many netizens in the community described it as "the voice of Star Wars."

Conspiracy theorist Scott C. Waring, who analyzed the audio, said that over the past few years, Colorado residents have heard speculations about UFOs.

"The signal indicates that there is an alien base far below the lake, which amplifies the sound below due to freezing. (The sound) acts as an amplifier," he suspected.

"Alien bases are never small in size. Most have a depth of 3-6km and cover an area of about 5km, and even have their own weather system with the possibility of rain," he continued.

"This is 100% proof of the existence of an alien base under a lake in Colorado," commented one netizen.

"If the signal can rise from the alien base, then it will also serve to send the signal back to the base," others speculated.

"In the wrong hands, this signal could lead to a foreign military response," said another.

But there is a more plausible and scientific explanation for the noise coming from the lake.

According to NPR, the noise was caused by a shift of frozen lake ice that caused high and low sound frequencies. Vibration moves through the ice, but high frequencies move faster than low frequencies, and many other netizens agree with this explanation.

"Ice makes this sound randomly as the condition gets thicker and thinner," said one netizen.

"I myself have heard this sound in the winter when there is a lot of ice everywhere. This has nothing to do with aliens," said another.
