Android vs. iOS update, which one makes users happier?

One of the things that distinguishes Android and iOS users is an update operating system. Android users usually receive less updates than iOS users, besides that iOS users also get longer support even up to five years.

But what exactly does the user feel about the update of the software they receive? That's what tried to find out by a router network survey that targets 1,000 smartphone users, as quoted from Android Authority on Monday (17/1/2022).

Overall, the network routers found that Android users preferred to welcome the operating system update, while iOS users were not very excited. Most iOS users don't even want to quickly update the OS on your cellphone when compared to Android users.

46% of respondents said they immediately updated their cellphone operating system after getting a notification. If divided per operating system, 47% of Android users claim it will immediately update, while IOS users are 43%.

The diagram below shows how Android users are more likely to run the latest operating system on their cellphones. 67% of Android users also claim to get more fun experience after the latest OS update rather than iOS users (56%).

Periodic operating system updates are also important to maintain mobile performance and security. Most users claim to immediately feel the benefits such as making normal functioning cellphones (33%), protected from security threats (32%), and increases speed (31%).

Interestingly, all users who are targeted surveys use the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S. Because this survey is conducted in the United States, this is actually quite reasonable.

The Networks router survey report also has several interesting findings. For example, 98% of Samsung Galaxy S21 users have installed the latest Android OS on their cellphones, while only 91% of iPhone 13 users have the latest version of iOS.

Of course there are some findings that are not surprising. One of them, the generation of baby boomers tend not to have the latest operating system on its devices. The opposite, Z genes actually tend to be more diligent in installing the latest OS updates.
