Baby Shark Breaks Record Again, Already Watched 10 Billion Times

In November 2020, Baby Shark became the most watched YouTube video of all time. About a year later, this video is breaking records again after becoming the first YouTube video to be viewed 10 billion times!

As a context, the current world population is 7.8 billion people. That means at least one person on Earth has watched this video once.

It looks like the Baby Shark's position won't be shifting any time soon. In second place is the music video 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, which was overtaken by Baby Shark in November 2020, with 7.7 billion views, as quoted from Engadget, Friday (14/1/2022).

Baby Shark was first released by South Korean company Pinkfong in June 2016 as part of a series of children's songs. This song immediately became a global phenomenon thanks to its catchy lyrics and tone.

In 2018 the popularity of this song exploded after the #BabySharkChallenge campaign appeared on social media. This challenge was even participated by famous celebrities such as Cardi B and Josh Groban.

After that, this children's song became more and more unavoidable after being adapted into a television series, stage show, and even entering the Billboard Top 40.

It doesn't stop there, Nickelodeon also plans to release a Baby Shark movie. For those who want to follow the trend of digital assets, there is also an NFT Baby Shark to collect.
