Best Selling Graphics Card, Asus Gives Big Bonuses

The year 2021 was marked by a global chip crisis that made graphics cards or GPUs a rarity and prices skyrocketed. When consumers find it difficult to get a graphics card, companies like Asus actually make big money and can distribute bonuses to their employees.

According to a report by Chinese media MySmartPrice, Asus is known to have earned USD 19.3 billion in revenue in 2021. This figure represents a 30% increase from the previous year and is their highest revenue since 2010.

Because of this achievement, the Taiwanese company distributed bonuses of up to USD 55,000 to its employees. They also distributed gifts in the form of cars and cash for their employees, as quoted from Digital Trends, Sunday (23/1/2022).

It is not known how many employees splashed this bonus. Asus alone employs 14,700 employees worldwide, so it's likely not all of them get the same bonus.

Asus' revenue increase in 2021 comes from two sources. The first is the high demand for laptops and PCs due to the need to study and work from home.

Second from selling graphics cards for crypto mining needs. Asus is indeed a partner of Nvidia and AMD to sell their customized flagship graphics cards.

This graphics card is sold under the ROG brand. Due to the scarcity factor, the RTX 30 series and RX 6000 series graphics cards sold by Asus have doubled in price.

Usually this graphics card is the most sought after item by gamers. But due to the increasing popularity of crypto, crypto activists are also buying up graphics cards for mining needs.

Due to this trend, some chip manufacturers are making graphics cards specifically for mining crypto. Like Nvidia modifying the RTX 3080 and RTX 2060 to mine crypto.

The graphics card crisis itself is expected to continue in 2022. So gamers who haven't managed to get their dream graphics card, please be more patient.
