WhatsApp's New Feature Can Blur Photos Before Sending

WhatsApp is preparing many new features that will be launched this year to improve its users' experience. One of them is some additional photo and video editing features in the Android application.

This new feature was discovered by the Wabetainfo page in the WhatsApp application for Android Beta version 2.22.3.5. This feature is still in the development stage, so it is not yet available for beta testers.

In this new feature, WhatsApp adds the option to edit photos and videos. Wabetainfo found two new image pencils in photo editing options and videos, so the total image pencil option offered into three.

So far, whatsapp users can change the color pencil color as desired to edit photos or videos, but there is no option to change the thickness of the line. With these two new pencils, users can scribble and edit photos with thicker lines.

In addition, Wabetainfo also reported whatsapp was developing a special tool to blur photos before being sent. This feature is available in the Signal application for Android and iOS since 2020.

With this photo blur feature the user can further maintain its privacy. When sending photos or screenshots, they can censor the part containing sensitive information so as not to be peered by others, as quoted from Android Police, Tuesday (18/1/2022).

At present these two new photo editing features are still in the development stage. It is not yet known when WhatsApp will roll these features to all users.

Apart from the two features above, WhatsApp is also developing many new features. Starting from bringing big changes such as multi-devices and transferring chat from Android to iOS, up to the minor like animated emoji and a new Voice Note player.
