Xiaomi prepares 12 new cellphones this year, peek at the leaks

 


January 2022 isn't over yet but Xiaomi seems to have big plans for this year. The Chinese tech giant is reportedly preparing 12 phones for release this year.

The leak came from tipser from China Digital Chat Station. Through Weibo, he shared 12 code names that Xiaomi uses for its newest phones and the chipsets that will be used.



The first four phones carry the code 'munch', 'rubens', 'matisse', and 'fog'. These codes refer to the internal software code for the Redmi K50 line, as quoted from Gizmochina, Monday (24/1/2022).



According to the code revealed, the Redmi K50 will be present in four models namely the regular Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50 Pro Plus, and Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. Usually Xiaomi will rebrand phones in the Redmi K line before launching them in the global market.



Xiaomi previously confirmed that the Redmi K50 line would use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and MediaTek Dimensity 9000. Digital Chat Station added that Xiaomi will use two other chipset variants, namely Snapdragon 870 and MediaTek Dimensity 8000.


Furthermore, there are two models that are predicted to be the first premium flagship camera phones from Xiaomi. These two models carry the code 'loki' and 'thor' which are claimed to be carrying the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and high-quality camera sensors.


The last six phones on the list are known as 'light', 'thunder', 'zizhan', 'zijin', 'taoyao' and 'opal'. These six names are codes for the Xiaomi Mix Flip and Mix Fold 2 folding screen phones, as well as the Redmi Note 12 mid-range phone.


Digital Chat Station revealed that Xiaomi will be equipping its foldable smartphone this year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 12 may carry the yet to be announced Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.



Of the 12 phones above, the one that has been confirmed for launch is the Redmi K50. Xiaomi has already distributed invitations for a launch event in February 2022.


From the teaser shared on social media, one of the Redmi K50 models that will be launched next month will carry a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, a 4,700 mAh battery, 120W fast charging, and dual VC liquid-cooling.
