Blood Sugar Insulin Control App Gets Permit in America

For people with diabetes or blood sugar, they need to inject insulin fluids into their bodies to control their blood sugar levels.

Insulin itself can be administered in a number of different ways, one of which is through an injection pen, and the other is through an insulin pump that can be worn on the body.

Those who use an insulin pump usually need to program in their doses at mealtimes via the pump itself.

The good news is the FDA, aka the United States Food and Drug Administration, announced that they have approved an application for iOS and Android devices that allows them to control insulin pumps via smartphones.

This is the t:connect application that will be used in conjunction with the t:slim X2 insulin pump by Tandem Diabetes Care. Through the app, users will be able to program and cancel bolus insulin doses via their mobile phone.

Previously, the app only allowed users to view pump information such as the last 24 hour glucose trend, changes in pump status, and therapy data, but now users can control it.

For those who use insulin pumps and are looking for a more connected model, Tandem Diabetes Care actually has a simulator app that allows users to virtually try their pumps where users can see its interface and features.
