Truth Social, the social media created by former United States President Donald Trump, has just been launched on the Apple App Store. This application had topped the list of free applications in the App Store, but users claimed to have difficulty creating new accounts.
From the looks of it, Truth Social looks a lot like Twitter, Trump's favorite social media platform before he was banned in early 2021 after being accused of inciting violence following the storming of the US Capitol.
Even though it had become the number one application on the App Store free application list, most users complained that they could not register a new account on Truth Social.
Users who have already downloaded the app get an error message when they try to enter their date of birth, phone number, or email when opening a new account. There are also those who do not receive a verification email and cannot pass the verification process.
Several other users reported they were put on a waiting list with more than 100,000 other people. "Due to the overwhelming demand, we have placed you on our waiting list," says the message the user received, along with the number of the waiting list.
If the content on Twitter is known as a tweet, then in Truth Social the posts are called 'Truths' which is displayed in the 'Truth Feed'. To share the Truth seen with their followers, users can use the 'ReTruth' feature, as quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (22/2/2022).
Truth Social became Trump's big comeback in the realm of social media after being banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube since early 2021. This application was developed by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) led by former US Congressman from the Republican Party Devin Nunes.
The app has been in beta since December 2021 with around 500 users. Nunes said the app will be fully operational by the end of March 2022.
Currently Truth Social is only available on iOS. It is not yet known when the Android version will be launched, but the Truth Social site says it will be coming to the Google Play Store in the near future.
