The folding screen iPhone is one of the most awaited gadgets. But it seems that Apple fanboys who can't wait to try out a folding iPhone will have to wait a little longer.
A recent report by Display Supply Chain Consultant analyst Ross Young said that Apple may be delaying the launch of its foldable iPhone until 2025.
Young said news of the delay came to light after talks with supply chain sources. This delay is quite significant considering previous predictions that the folding screen iPhone will launch in 2023 or 2024.
"We deferred expectations of Apple entering the foldable smartphone market by two years to 2025 after discussions with our supply chain contacts," Young said in the report, as quoted by 9to5Mac, Tuesday (22/2/2022).
"The (Apple) company doesn't appear to be in a hurry to enter the foldable smartphone market, and it will take even longer," he continued.
Although delaying the launch of the folding screen iPhone, it is interesting that Apple is actually looking at the development of a folding screen laptop. The company created by Steve Jobs is discussing a 20-inch folding screen laptop with its suppliers.
Young said this folding screen product will create a new category for Apple. This device will have two uses, namely as a laptop with the on-screen keyboard folded, and as a monitor when used with an external keyboard open.
These foldable laptops will also support resolutions of 4K or higher, Young said. He predicts that Apple's foldable laptop will likely be launched after 2025, between 2026 or 2027.
Folding laptops themselves are nothing new. In 2020, Lenovo launched its first foldable laptop called the X1 Fold. Not long ago, Asus also introduced the Zenbook 17 Fold concept which is planned to be launched this year.
