Huawei Patents 3D Camera Technology, Can Analyze Facial Skin

According to a report from LetsGoDigital, based on data from The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Huawei has reportedly filed a patent for 3D camera technology for smartphones.

As the concept rendering image shared, later this Huawei smartphone will have a ring-shaped camera module where the top, left and right are optical components with an image sensor and dual flash at the bottom.

Then for the center of the ring, you can see a screen with a rounded display that functions as a viewfinder when taking photos and recording videos.

Launching from Gizchina, the LetsGoDigital report reveals that this camera has a system to perform 3D scans on the user's face which can also assess the structure of their skin.

Users will be provided with information about the condition of their pores, skin tone, acne, wrinkles, dark areas around the eyes and more which can be collected for analysis.

After the system on the device analyzes it, it will make recommendations on how to improve the condition of facial skin.

With this capability, the camera on Huawei's latest smartphone can still take photos and videos as usual. Although its development is still in the patent documentation, Huawei itself has not revealed when this camera technology will officially roll out to the public.
