Hundreds of Birds Suddenly Fall from the Sky Confuse Scientists

Hundreds of birds suddenly fell en masse in the city of Cuahtemoc, Mexico, to the shock of local residents. Scientists are quite confused to determine what causes it for sure.

As quoted by us from the Guardian, the shocking incident was caught on camera and went viral on social media. The yellow-headed blackbird was known to be migrating to another location before suddenly falling to the ground.

The police were also contacted by several residents who said that quite a number of bird carcasses were found scattered on the sidewalk. In the video, you can see how the birds flying in groups suddenly fell. Some of the birds that fell were killed instantly, others were able to fly back and continue their migration.

"It looks like the birds are confused, the birds that died seem to be because they hit a hard surface because the others can immediately fly back," one netizen suspected.

The local vet who examined it suspected that the bird might have inhaled a poisonous gas or it might have been electrocuted. Another possibility is that the birds were trying to escape predators. There are also those who associate it with 5G signal beams.

Dr Richard Broughton, an ecologist at the UK Center for Ecology & Hydrology, said that although he did not see any predatory birds in the video, he believed that the birds were frightened because they were indeed predators. Birds that fly low and are too close to see predators fall.

"Maybe there was an eagle chasing the flock and they fell because they were flying low," he argued. So far, the exact cause is being investigated, there is no final conclusion.
