Lummo is the second startup in Indonesia to receive funding from Amazon chief Jeff Bezos. Lummo Co-founder and COO Lorenzo Perrachione revealed their plans to capitalize on the investment.
This funding injection from Bezos is part of a series-C funding of USD 80 million led by Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital India. Jeff Bezos channeled his investments through his personal asset management office, Bezos Expedition.
Lorenzo did not reveal how much money Bezos disbursed. But he believes this injection of funds is very important for Lummo to develop his team in order to provide better services for business actors and MSMEs.
"This funding will allow us to attract more talent and in particular to improve our product management and engineering capabilities so that we can accelerate our product development process," Lorenzo said in an interview with us.
"And we can fulfill our mission to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and brands to accelerate their growth and to serve their customers by providing them with the best technology and the best partner solutions."
Lummo itself is currently positioning its company as a service provider that connects businesses directly to customers (direct-to-consumer/D2C) via software-as-a-service (SaaS). Their flagship service is LummoSHOP which can help business people and MSMEs to open their own online store websites.
Lorenzo revealed some of the improvements and new features that Lummo will bring to the LummoSHOP service in the near future. First, LummoSHOP will also strengthen integration with other marketplaces so that business actors can manage their sales channels in one place efficiently.
In addition, LummoSHOP will also launch a wider website personalization feature so that business actors can display their brand more optimally.
"We realize that many of our merchants want to look unique, want to look different. So the presence of features to make their store look more attractive, very unique, and represent their brand is very important," explained the man who is often called Lore.
