Twitter Develops Articles Feature for Longer Tweets

Twitter users are currently having a hard time tweeting at length due to the limited number of characters. But it looks like Twitter is developing a new feature that will allow users to tweet longer.

The new feature is called Twitter Articles and was discovered by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong. Not much is known about this feature, but from the name it looks like Twitter Articles allows users to upload tweets that are more than 280 characters long.

From the screenshots shared by Wong, it appears that Twitter Articles will have its own tabs or sections, such as the Spaces or Explore tabs in the Twitter app. Whether this feature will have a character or word limit is also unknown, as quoted from XDA Developers, Saturday (5/2/2022).

As is known, Twitter extended the character limit for tweets from 140 to 280 in 2017. However, this number is still too small so users who want to upload long tweets must create a thread or thread.

This Twitter Articles feature will certainly make it easier for users who often create long threads because they can put all their tweets together on one page. But there are also some users who say this feature will reduce engagement on Twitter because tweet threads usually get a lot of reactions from the same users.

Currently this feature is still in the development stage. It is not yet known whether this feature will be rolled out to all users or limited to Twitter Blue subscribers.

In an official statement to Cnet, a Twitter spokesperson said it was constantly looking for new ways to help users start and engage in conversations. The company with the bird logo will share more information on Twitter Articles in the near future.
