The Ukrainian government continued to seek help in various ways when it was invaded by Russia. Including asking Apple for help.
It is the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, who via his Twitter account claimed to have contacted Apple CEO Tim Cook to block the App Store in Russia.
In addition, Fedorov also asked Cook to support the sanctions imposed by the United States government on Russia.
In the tweet, Fedorov also included a letter addressed to Cook from the Ukrainian government. The letter reads, "We need your support, by 2022, modern technology is probably the best answer for tanks, rocket launchers and missiles."
"Such a step will motivate the young generation and the active population in Russia to proactively stop this shameful military aggression," he continued.
Technology does have a big role in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Because apart from physically, this war also takes place in cyberspace. Such as Ukrainian government companies and websites which were bombarded by Russian hackers, and also various Russian government websites which were beaten by Anonymous hackers.
So far, the embargo sanctions imposed on Russia are mostly in the financial, energy, and enterprise technology sectors, namely limiting Russia's international trade.
But now there is increasing pressure from US technology companies to tighten access to services in Russia. As echoed the official account of the Ukrainian government on Twitter, which asks people to ask Twitter to remove Russia from Twitter.
