Nowadays, cellphones can be said to be very important necessities for everyday life, and if they are lost or tucked away, it will certainly be a big problem. Fortunately, for Android users, Google has a feature to find a lost phone. Namely Find My Device.
The most important thing about Find My Device is that this feature is usually off by default. So you have to turn it on manually, and don't forget, you also need to turn on the Location feature on your phone.
Indeed, in some phones, this feature has been active since the phone was first turned on. However, there are also several mobile phone brands that have their own applications, such as Samsung, which has Find My Mobile.
To check if your phone can use Find My Device, do the following:
Go to Settings
Open the Security menu
There appears to be an option Find My Device
If the Find My Device option is not already turned on, you can turn it on in this menu. Apart from Settings, you can also access this feature using an application in the Play Store, called Find My Device. It looks more user-friendly than the display in the Settings menu.
Then second, you need to make sure Location service is also enabled. The method:
Go to Settings
Look for the Location menu. If it is off, turn on this option.
In this Location menu you can also check what applications are new using the Location feature. You can also reset which applications are allowed to use the Location feature.
After everything is turned on, this feature can already be active. How to find it? You can go to any browser, including a PC, and type "Find my device" into the Google search engine. Then log in to your account (if you haven't already), and find which phone you want to locate.
Or it could be from the Find My Device application installed on another phone, maybe on your friend's phone. The trick is:
If it is already installed, open Find My Device
Enter the same Google account as the lost phone
After logging in, a map display of the location of the phone you are looking for will appear
From this page, you can see the location of your phone, connected to what network (WiFi or cellular), the remaining battery, and when the location was last recorded.
After a successful connection, you can make your phone make a sound for five minutes so you can find the source of the sound. It can also lock the device and force all Google accounts to log out of the phone, which is great if you're sure you left your phone in a public place and you can get it back.
And lastly, wipe all the data on the phone. This is a last resort if you believe the phone is hopeless to find. After deleting data from the phone, you can no longer find the location of this phone from Find My Device, and of course the data on the cellphone will also be lost.
