Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will be used to measure body temperature

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 was released last year with a lot of health and sports features. According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy Watch 5, which will be its successor, will come with a new breakthrough, namely the thermometer feature.

South Korean media ET News reports that Samsung will embed a thermometer feature on the Galaxy Watch 5 to measure the user's body temperature. This feature is intended to detect early symptoms of COVID-19 while monitoring other infections.

Samsung and Apple have wanted to release smartwatches with thermometers for a long time. But there are some challenges that must be overcome such as the ambient temperature factor, the heat generated during exercise, and the heat generated when standing in the sun.

It seems that Samsung has already prepared a technology that can solve this problem and allow the Galaxy Watch 5 to measure body temperature as accurately as possible, perhaps by using some kind of infrared thermometer.

Not only for the Galaxy Watch 5, Samsung will reportedly use infrared technology to embed the thermometer feature on the Galaxy Buds. But it is not yet known whether this feature will be released in bulk.

Reportedly, the tech giant has already completed development of a prototype Galaxy Buds that can measure body temperature from the eardrum, but Samsung is still considering a release date, as quoted from 9to5Google, Sunday (13/3/2022).

ET News says Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 5 in August 2022, the same month as its predecessor. Last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch 4 on August 11 and went on sale on August 27.

If Samsung follows the same pattern of launches this year, then we'll most likely see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 around the same time.
