Twitter has been officially controlled by Elon Musk, who bought it for an estimated $44 billion. Nevertheless, there are quite a few unanswered mysteries behind the purchase.
The following is a summary that we quoted from CNBC, Tuesday (26/4/2022):
Who will lead Twitter?
One of the biggest mysteries is, who will Elon Musk appoint as CEO of Twitter? The current CEO, Parag Agrawal has only been in charge for 5 months replacing Jack Dorsey.
Agrawal approved of Elon Musk buying some of Twitter's shares, but warned instead that there would be disruptions when Elon Musk wanted to buy all of Twitter. Apparently, the two will not work together again so Twitter will have a new CEO.
Who will be on Twitter's board?
Twitter's board of directors, led by Salesforce CEO Bret Taylor, appeared to have rejected Elon Musk's offer to buy the company. As such, there could be a major reshuffle on Twitter's Board of Directors.
Elon Musk would certainly prefer his confidants. It could be that later, Jack Dorsey as the founder of Twitter, will return to the company and act as one of the directors.
How powerful is Elon Musk?
Twitter states that the company has been acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk. However, it has not been explained in detail how much power Elon Musk will have over Twitter.
With all kinds of busyness at Tesla and SpaceX, will Elon Musk let Twitter be controlled by his confidants or will he still manage this company closely including all policies that will be issued later?
How does Twitter change?
Commanded by Elon Musk, it's clear there will be changes on Twitter. For example, an edit button might be implemented soon as the user wishes. Then, Twitter may be more lax about freedom of speech.
Elon Musk has stated several times that Twitter must adhere to the principle of free speech. It could be that someone who had been banned by Twitter like Donald Trump could return to the platform again.
How about the fate of Twitter employees?
Since Twitter will be a private company, Elon Musk will restructure the company including employees and salaries. So far, there have been no changes or comments regarding Twitter employees.
For example, will there be layoffs later or will employees who claim to dislike Elon Musk's figure will leave their jobs? It's worth waiting for what will happen to them.
