Akamai Technologies, a cloud company with a focus on cybersecurity, has released a new line of products and updates to its current line of security and computing products.
This announcement also marks Akamai's entry into the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) market, namely through the release of Linode Managed Database, Audience Hijacking Protector, as well as a number of new features for developers and cybersecurity professionals.
This week's product releases and updates are focused on one thing: supporting and protecting online life.
"One of them is Linode Managed Database which is the first product in our computing product line. With it, customers can access many tools, regardless of the workload. The distribution of Akamai's computing platform is also the most complete worldwide, from cloud to edge," he added.
Linode Managed Database is claimed to make it easier to deploy databases, help reduce the risks faced by developers, and minimize the complexities that arise from manually managing production database clusters.
Managed database is the product most requested by Linode customers. Linode Managed Database is the first product that is Akamai's milestone in reaching the computing line business. The release of this service is the fruit of his acquisition of Linode in March this year for his ambition to develop the world's most reliable and distributed computing platform, from cloud to edge.
Akamai will offer Linode Managed Database for MySQL across Linode's 11 global data centers, with support for PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB to follow in Q2 2022.
