It doesn't feel like it's going to be Eid soon. Usually, before Eid, Muslims will start to get busy with various preparations to celebrate Eid. One of them is the preparation of giving gifts.

Well, gifts themselves have become something that is commonly given to loved ones when there are special moments, such as Eid al-Fitr or other big day celebrations. However, did you know? In Indonesia, people call gifts as parcels or hampers.

Well, how come the pronunciation is different? Even though both of them are gifts for Eid. What makes the two different, huh? The following is the difference between parcels and hampers. Come on, see!

Parcel vs Hampers

In the KBBI, the definition of a parcel is a gift containing various gifts, such as various cakes, canned food and drinks, and glassware, which are arranged neatly in baskets and sent to certain people on holidays.

As for almost, in KBBI it has the same meaning, namely parcel. However, when referring to the Cambridge Dictionary, it almost means a box or basket with a large container made of wood with a lid, containing food and drink, usually given as a gift, for example at Christmas.

Meanwhile, the meaning of a parcel in the Cambridge Dictionary, is an object or collection of objects wrapped in paper, so that it can be sent by post. Well, if you look more closely, it turns out that the difference between parcels and almost lies in the packaging.

A parcel refers to an object that has been neatly wrapped in paper. Meanwhile, almost refers to the word basket, where the basket is made of pieces of wood with a lid.

However, in Indonesia the term parcel is rarely used because it is considered outdated and has been replaced with hampers that sound more contemporary. Besides sounding contemporary, many people call hampers as the modern version of parcels.

Contents of Parcels Vs. Contents of Hampers

Have you ever noticed how the contents differ between parcels and hampers? If not, then this is the right time to find out the difference between parcels and hampers. Even though parcels and hampers have the same function, the contents are slightly different, you know.

Parcels in Indonesia usually contain packaged snacks, pastries, and syrups which seem a bit monotonous. Meanwhile, hampers can be more tailored to the recipient's preferences so that the contents can look more luxurious and personal. In addition, you can fill the hamper with more items because the shape of the hamper is larger than the parcel.

Parcel Price Vs Hampers Price

"There is a price, there is quality" is a term that is often heard when shopping. The better the quality, the more expensive the price. Likewise with prices on parcels and hampers.

After you know the size and content of the parcels and hampers, then you can judge right? Which price is more expensive? Yup, hampers tend to be more expensive than parcel prices.

In terms of packaging, there are already differences between parcels and hampers, so it is not unusual for hampers to be sold at a higher price than parcels. However, this does not mean that the quality of the parcel is bad. With a price comparison like this, you can better adjust to the budget you currently have.

Well, how? Which do you prefer? Parcels or hampers?
