Detected, Apple's tactic to get consumers to buy more expensive products

Apple in recent years began to make products that cost less. However, they use certain tricks to keep consumers buying higher priced products.

Keep in mind, cheap here means of course when compared to other Apple products. Not cheap when compared to Android products, yes.

The closest example of Apple's trick is from their two latest products, namely the iPad Air with the M1 chip and also the iPhone SE 2022. Here's the explanation.

On paper, the iPad Air M1 is a very capable iPad. Definitely fast, using the same M1 chip as the iPad Pro. Also supports Magic Keyboard, as well as Apple Pencil 2. Again, just like the iPad Pro.

At first glance, the differences between the iPad Air M1 and the latest iPad Pro are on the screen side, where the iPad Pro uses a 120Hz screen, and even the Mini LED screen on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. For users who don't care about a 120Hz screen, of course the iPad Air is more attractive, especially at a much cheaper price, USD 600 vs USD 800.

However, the cheapest version of the iPad Air only has 64GB of storage, which seems too small for today's standards. So, choose the one with bigger storage, right? The only option is USD 256GB, which costs USD 750. Only a slight difference compared to the 128GB 11-inch iPad Pro, which costs USD 800.

The second example is the iPhone SE 2022, whose price is quite competitive with Android phones, with faster performance than flagship Android phones because it uses the A15 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 13 series.

Even though his brain is fast, the iPhone SE 2022 has an old school look, because it uses an iPhone 8 body that is already five years old. The bezels are thick, the screen is still LCD, not OLED, which is now commonly available on Android phones.

Meanwhile, there are other options in Apple's product line that are more premium than the iPhone SE. For example, the iPhone 11 which starts at USD 499, or the iPhone 12 which starts at USD 599 (iPhone 12 Mini) and USD 599 (iPhone 12). Or even the iPhone 13 Mini which starts at USD 699. Keep in mind, for the iPhone 12 and 13 series, the smallest storage is 128GB, not 64GB like the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone 11.

However, whatever the trick, the apple kroak logo may still have a special place in the hearts of its fans. How about you?
