Elon Musk is known as the owner of a large stake in Twitter. Recently, he was also named as the mastermind behind the initiation of the edit button on the bluebird platform. How come?
Although Twitter claims to have developed this edit button since last year, the release of this new feature is only slightly different from the SpaceX boss' tweet. Elon Musk created a poll asking if Twitter users wanted an edit button.
In total, there were 4.4 million people who participated. As a result, the majority (73.6%) said they agreed and the rest (26.4%) rejected the edit button on Twitter.
Uniquely, in less than 24 hours, Twitter announced the tweet editing feature and left a question mark for netizens.
"Elon bought 9.2% of Twitter just to give us the edit button," said @fintwit_news.
However, Twitter has provided clarification regarding the issue.
"Now people are asking... yep, we've been developing the edit feature since last year! No, we didn't get that idea from a poll," Twitter argued.
In the coming months, Twitter Blue Labs will explore how the edit button functions, whether it functions properly or not, and any other possibilities.
Elon Musk did buy up 9.2% of Twitter shares and immediately caused a 27% jump in share price. Musk now owns 73,486,938 shares of Twitter and makes him the largest outside investor in the social media company.
